Microsoft penalised $10,000 for force installing Windows 10
In an incident of force installation of Microsoft newer OS, Windows 10, company apparently paying $10,000 to a woman in California. Teri Goldstein runs a travel company in California sued Microsoft for trying to automatically installing Windows 10 on her laptop. After installation her machine refused to work normally and resulted in data loss.
According to Goldstein, she didn’t authorize update for installation and update failed. It made laptop really slow and non-responsive. It crashed sporadically and wouldn’t work for days. Microsoft later decided to drop its appeal and will pay $10,000 as compensation to her.
Microsoft recently known for aggressive Windows 10 installation prompts, which tricks users for upgrading without proper information. New Operating system launched in July 2015 had mixed response from existing customers. Windows 10, currently available and marketed as Free upgrade to existing users.
